Far too many adults and even more adolescents are prescribed psychiatric types of drugs and usually without an actual, concrete diagnosis of a mental disorder or disabling case of depression. These pills are given out like all others at the slightest sign or statement that someone isn't happy anymore, they can't get motivated in life or get good grades in school and the list goes on. I'm not saying that there aren't some people who absolutely MUST have these strong drugs for a severe condition, but it should be on the short term and not a life-long addiction that usually leaves them as a non-functioning member of society. The long term effects of these drugs are not known especially for young children and adolescents. That can permanently alter the brain chemistry and cause life long changes that can not be reversed. This is what was shared by Citizens Commission on Human Rights in regards to these medications:

"Psychiatrists can’t predict what adverse side effects you might experience because not one of them knows how their drugs work.

Psychotropic drugs are increasingly being exposed as chemical toxins with the power to kill. Psychiatrists claim their drugs save lives, but according to their own studies, psychotropic drugs can double the risk of suicide. And long-term use has been proven to create a lifetime of physical and mental damage, a fact ignored by psychiatrists.

Common and well-documented side effects of psychiatric drugs include mania, psychosis, hallucinations, depersonalization, suicidal ideation, heart attack, stroke and sudden death.

Not only that, but The US Food and Drug Administration admits that probably one to ten percent of all the adverse drug effects are actually reported by patients or physicians."

For those of you who are struggling with depression, attention/focus problems or just feel "stuck" and don't know where to start as well as children and adolescents with ADD/ADHD/Behavior and learning troubles, schedule a consultation and/or a new client appointment and let me help guide you through by getting back to basics and a better life. Your future self will thank you!

Not all carbohydrates are bad for you! Choosing the right type of carbs is essential to fueling the body with the nutrients it needs so the body can get rid of toxins, aid in weight loss, clean out the colon and prevent illness and disease. White pasta, rice and bread are the carbohydrates to avoid since they are totally processed and contain no nutritional value to us.

The ingredients of a Diet Coke right off of its bottle: carbonated water, caramel color, aspartame, phosphoric acid, potassium citrate, natural flavors, citric acid, and caffeine. This addictive and dangerous blend of aspartame and caffeine is anything BUT healthy for human consumption but America drinks beverages like this more then they do water. Most people have heard of aspartame but what about the other ingredients? Here is some information on those other less known or talked about additions:

Caramel color: Research published by the federal government’s National Toxicology Program showed that long-term exposure to 4-methylimidazole—a contaminant in the caramel coloring—lead to an increase in lung cancer in male and female mice. And these findings resulted in the addition of 4-MEI to California’s Proposition 65 list of carcinogens. The International Agency for Research on Cancer also concluded that caramel coloring is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
Aspartame: Animal studies show more of an increase in cancer risk than human studies have. But there is definitely enough of a connection to avoid or limit your exposure to the additive. The low-calorie sweetener may actually be tricking your body into weight gain and some studies suggest that when our taste buds sense sweetness, the body expects a calorie load to accompany it. When that doesn’t happen, it may cause us to overeat because we crave the energy rush our body was expecting. These types of artificial sweeteners might also dull your taste buds, meaning you eat more high-flavor, high-calorie foods to satisfy your cravings.
Phosphoric Acid: The acid in this ingredient is what erodes tooth enamel. Additional research has also linked excessive exposure to additional adverse health issues. According to a study in the journal Epidemiology, drinking two or more colas a day—diet or regular—was associated with a twofold risk of developing kidney disease. The researchers indicated that although an exact cause is unknown, the phosphoric acid in colas has been associated with urinary changes that promote kidney stones.
Natural flavors: Hundreds of chemicals can be used to mimic the taste of natural flavors—so natural flavors can be anything. The term natural just means they are derived from foods found in nature, but does not make them a health food or safe as some people assume.
Take a look at symptoms from aspartame above - do you suffer from headaches, ringing in your ears (tinnitus) dizziness, anxiety or joint pain? Aspartame is in almost everything processed these days from cookies, cakes, soda, chewing gum, children's vitamins and even baby formula.

This is a very scary thought when we consider how many products we use on our skin each day from soaps, shampoo & conditioner, makeup, lipstick, perfumes, deodorants and more. If you think you're being health conscious by eating a clean organic diet but continue to use commercial hair, makeup and body care products that are NOT organic and natural, you're not doing your body as well as you could! Do some research on the ingredients listed in the products you use and make the switch to a healthier version. Your skin and your health with thank you!

You can now purchase my Organic, 100% Shea Butter soap via the "schedule now" tab here or on our facebook page! Price does not include shipping but if you are a client of mine or local I would gladly meet up with you to deliver.

Got Probiotics??

Probiotics and prebiotics help provide the GOOD bacteria we need in our bodies. There is not always a need to take supplemental probiotics IF you consume the natural providers of these. We eat banana's and blueberries daily as well as tomatoes, greens, garlic and beans!

Probiotics: The "Good" Bacteria
The human body requires beneficial bacteria to assist with an array of functions, from digestion to support of the immune system. Dietary supplements or foods that contain these beneficial enzyme-producing bacteria can be described as "probiotic." The World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations formally define probiotics as "live microorganisms, which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host."

Prebiotics: Helping the Good Bacteria
Prebiotics are derived from insoluble fiber and fructooligosaccharides (the sugars often found in fruits and honey); they are carbohydrates that selectively stimulate growth and/or activity upon contact with intestinal microflora. For instance, they are said to assist in the absorption of calcium and the development of good bacteria. The definition of prebiotics is very similar to that of dietary fiber, except for the issue of selectivity.

Garlic may not smell so wonderful but it sure is wonderful for your health!

We LOVE garlic in our house and have some in a meal almost daily.

Garlic is a natural anti-bacterial, an antioxidant to help prevent heart attacks, helps lowers blood pressure, prevents colds as well as boost the immune system to reduce the rates of cancers.

Health is  not simply the absence of disease or covering up symptoms with prescription drugs. To feel truly healthy it’s ensuring we are balanced on a mental, physical and spiritual level. Our body gives off signs when things are not 'quite right' whether it’s headaches, digestive complaints, skin breakouts or a feeling of fatigue. If we give our body what it needs with proper nutrition and avoiding toxins, we have the amazing ability to heal ourselves.

Chronic fatigue, yeast infections, allergies, weight gain, bloating and more are just a few reactions and symptoms the body has when being exposed to too much sugar. Sugar is in almost everything we consume with the average American consuming more then 22 teaspoons of sugar every day! Obesity, cancer and type II diabetes are out of control among children, teens and adults and it's up to each of us to take back control of our health and our future. Cut the sugar from you diet and you will improve and even eliminate a host of preventable diseases and ailments effecting your quality of life.
